SMCA-Kuwait Housing Project - 2

 
 

Kuwait, 10th June 2008:

SMCA Patron Bp. Camillo Ballin releasing the brochure. Present on the dais are SMCA President Jacob Cherian, Gen. Secretary Benny Nalpathamkalam and Social welfare committee convener Manoj GeorgeAfter successfully completing the Mayflower Housing Project-1 comprising of 50 houses in the Manathavady diocese, SMCA Kuwait will now sponsor a second Housing project for the poor and the needy, this time in the Changanacherry Diocese.

The project will be named SMCA-Kuwait Housing Project-2.

Through this project SMCA will provide financial support @ Rs. 50,000 to construct a minimum of 25 houses at southern districts of Kerala coming under the ecclesiastical jurisdiction of Changanacherry Arch Diocese.

Similar to the earlier SMCA Mayflower Housing Project-1, each house constructed under this Project also shall be of one Lakh. The executing agency for the project will be Changanacherry Social Service Society (CHASS) functioning under the patronage of Arch Bishop of Changanacherry.

SMCA Patron Bishop Camillo Ballin of Kuwait vicariate will be the Patron of the Project. The Bishop Camillo Ballin has released the brochure for the  new Project on Sunday, 8th June 08, at City Cathedral Hall at 8:45pm after the Syro Malabar Mass.

 
     
 

SMCA Celebrated Holy Week & Easter

 
 

Kuwait, 23 March 2008

The Syro-Malabar Cultural Association (SMCA) Kuwait celebrated the Holy week and Easter in a solemn and traditional way. Way of the cross was conducted in all areas on Thursdays and Fridays during the entire 50 day lent period.

On Maundy Thursday traditional and unique “pesaha” of Syro-Malabar Christians was celebrated in Abbasiya, City/Farwania, Fahaheel and Salmiya to mark the “Passover” of old testament and the last supper of Christ.

Hundreds of faithful attended the mid-night Easter mass celebrated at Salmiya Church on Saturday and received blessings from the risen Christ.

 
 

 

 

SMCA Celebrated Christmas & New Year

Kuwait, 4th January 2008:

The Syro Malabar Cultural Association, Kuwait celebrated the Christmas and New Year as a mega event at the Al-Mazra Hawally on Friday 4th January 2008 at 5:30pm in presence of a large gathering. The evening started with the melodious Christmas Carol of SMCA choir. It was followed by hoisting of SMCA Flag by the President Mr. Jacob Cherian Marattukalam accompanied by the four Area General Conveners - Mr. Benny Perikilathu, Mr. Bijoy Palakunnel, Mr. Jeeves Erinjeril and Mr. Sunny Mannarkattu while the Baladeepthi chorus of 125 children was singing the SMCA anthem.

Later the celebration was inaugurated by the Vatican Nuncio H. E. Archbishop Paul El- Hachem ....

Obituary

MR. V. D. Sebastian (Appachan)


Died on Friday 22nd August 2008, 2:15am IST. Funeral on Sunday 24th August 2008 at St. Mary’s Forane Church, Athirampuzha, Changanacherry Arch Diocese. He was the father of Sony Sebastian Vattamala, SMCA Salmiya area.


MRS. ROSA MATHAI, AERATH (86)


Died on 13th August 2008 (4am). Funeral on Saturday 16th August 2008 at St. Augustine's Forane Church, Ramapuram, Pala dioces. She was the mother of Dominic Mathew, Aerath (Abbasiya Area, St.Jude kudumba unit) & grandmother of Mathewkutty Aerath (Abbasiya Area, St. Thomas kudumba unit).
