Congratulations to Dr. Mohan Thomas We are proud to hear the announcement to confer the Papal Order, Knighthood of Saint Gregory – Chevalier - by Pope Benedict XVI to Dr. Mohan Thomas Pakalomattom . His hard work, efforts and leadership for the betterment of church in general and Syro Malabar community in particular has been recognized by the church by conferring this honour. He is the coordinator of Gulf chapters of SMCA and is instrumental in brining Syro Malabar Associations together on a platform. On behalf of f SMCA Kuwait, let’s join in congratulation him for receiving this honour.

Welcome to SMCA Kuwait

Syro Malabar Cultural Association Kuwait (SMCA), is the platform of Syro Malabar Catholics residing in Kuwait. It is a part of the international Syro Malabar Laity movements, moving hand in hand, under the patronage of the head of the Syro Malabar Church, H E Cardinal Mar Varkey Vithayathil, Bishop of Kuwait, His Lordhsip Camillo Ballin is also the Patron of SMCA Kuwait. Formed in 1995, SMCA Kuwait is the first of its kind in the Gulf region. SMCA Kuwait works as registered Indian Association, in full coordination with the Indian Embassy in Kuwait. Syro Malabar community is a part of the diversity in Catholic Church and in Indian Culture and it proclaims unity in diversity. SMCA's aims and objectives are formulated taking into consideration the two-fold nature. Some of the major objectives of the organization are:

To provide a common forum for Syro Malabar Catholics living in Kuwait, coordinate activities for the advancement of the community, working closely with the Church Hierarchy, introduce the spiritual and cultural heritage to the younger generation in the community, work for the betterment of the host nation Kuwait and of the home land India,  engage in humanitarian activities to help the needy and poor.

Now SMCA Kuwait is one of the largest Indian associations in Kuwait, with nearly 10000 individuals rallying behind its banner.
