Syro Malabar Cultural Association (SMCA) is the official lay association of the Syro Malabar Church in Kuwait, inaugurated on Dec 1st 1995- the first of its kind in Gulf. It is operating under the approved Constitution and Bylaws, under the patronage of the Major Archbishop of the Syro Malabar church and the Catholic Bishop of the Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Arabia. Syro Malabar Catholics who have valid resident permits in Kuwait- approximately 45000 in numbers- are the primary members of the association. To get an active membership, an application is to be submitted in the prescribed format.

Syro Malabar Catholic Church is the major Christian community having roots in Kerala, forms the major part of the 2000 year old Christian community known as St Thomas Christians (Nasrani) founded by St Thomas the apostle. It is well defined by the Late Rev. Fr. Placid Podippara CMI as “Catholic in faith, East Cyriac in liturgy and Indian in culture”. SMCA was founded with an intention to promote celebrating and preserving the rich heritage, patrimony and faith and transferring the same to the next generation, rightly tagged as “Guardians of a Glorious Traditions

സീറോ മലബാർ സഭയുടെ ഔദ്യോഗിക അൽമായ സംഘടനയാണ് സീറോ മലബാർ കൾച്ചറൽ അസോസിയേഷൻ കുവൈറ്റ് അഥവാ എസ്. എം. സി. എ കുവൈറ്റ്. 1995 ഡിസംബർ 1-)൦ തീയതി ഉൽഘാടനം ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ട SMCA, ഇത്തരുണത്തിലുള്ള ഗൾഫിലെ ആദ്യ സംഘടന കൂടിയാണ്. അംഗീകൃത നിയമാവലി അനുസരിച്ചും, സീറോ മലബാർ സഭ തലവന്റെയും ഉത്തര അറേബ്യ കത്തോലിക്ക ബിഷപ്പിന്റെയും രക്ഷാധികാര്യത്വത്തിനു കീഴിലും ആണ് ഈ സംഘടന പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നത്. കുവൈറ്റിൽ താമസ അനുമതി (റെസിഡൻസ് പെർമിറ്റ് ) ഉള്ള എല്ലാ സീറോ മലബാർ സഭാംഗങ്ങളും- ഏകദേശം 45000 ആളുകൾ – SMCA യുടെ പ്രാഥമികാംഗങ്ങൾ ആണ്എന്നാൽ അവർക്കു സജ്ജീവ അംഗത്വം ലഭിക്കുന്നതിന്. നിശ്ചിത അപേക്ഷാഫോറം പൂരിപ്പിച്ചു നൽകേണ്ടതാണ്.

ഈശോയുടെ ശിഷ്യനായിരുന്ന തോമ സ്ലീഹായാൽ സ്ഥാപിതമായ മാർത്തോമാ നസ്രാണികളിൽ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ സഭയാണ്സീറോ മലബാർ സഭ. വിശ്വാസത്തിൽ കത്തോലിക്കരും, ആരാധനാ ക്രമത്തിൽ പൗരസ്ത്യ സുറിയാനിക്കാരും, സംസ്കാരത്തിൽ ഭാരതീയരും എന്നാണ് ഈ സമൂഹത്തെ കുറിച്ച് വന്ദ്യ സ്മരാണാർഹൻ ആയ ഫാദർ പ്ലാസിഡ് പൊടിപ്പാറ പറയുന്നത്. കുവൈറ്റിലെ സീറോ മലബാർ സഭാമക്കൾക്കു അവരുടെ വിശ്വാസം, പാരമ്പര്യം, പൈതൃകം എന്നിവ പിഞ്ചെല്ലാനും സംരക്ഷിക്കാനും അവ അടുത്ത തലമുറയ്ക്ക് പകർന്നുകൊടുക്കുവാനും ഉള്ള സാഹചര്യങ്ങൾ ഒരുക്കുക എന്നതാണ് SMCA യുടെ ലക്ഷ്യം. അതുകൊണ്ടു തന്നെ “മഹത്തായ പാരമ്പര്യത്തിന്റെ സംരക്ഷകർ (Guardians of a Glorious Tradition ) എന്ന ടാഗ് ലൈനിലാണ് SMCA പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നത്.
