A memorable day in our calendar

We have celebrated Christmas and New Year with colorful events in a sparkling family atmosphere. 1st January 2010 will be remembered as one of the best days in our Calendar. 
Special thanks on behalf of the central Managing Committee to those who worked hard for the success of the event.  The celebrations started with prayer lead by 180 Baladeepthy children, followed by a Carol song by them in chorus. Dressed in white with red sashes resembled the Chorus of angels singing Gloria. Rev. Fr. Albert S Raj OCD (Chancellor of Kuwait Vicariate) lighted the candle before stating of prayer. He delivered an enlightening and encouraging message. President Mr. Sebastian George Purayidathil hoisted SMCA flag, 4 Area general conveners joined him in the ceremony, while the Baladeepthy choir sang the SMCA Anthem. It was followed by 4 hours of colourful stage presentations from 4 areas of SMCA. Dances from all 4 areas, Skit by Farwaniya Area, Drama by Salmiya Area and Kadhaprasangam by Abbasiya Area invited big appreciation from the huge gathering.  

At 7.30 pm the guests were given a ceremonious and traditional welcome, with thalappoli, muthukuda and chenda melam. The public meeting was inaugurated by HE ambassador of India Mr. Ajay Malhotra and was presided by the president Mr. Sebastian George Purayidathil. Hon’ble First Secretary of Vatican Embassy Msgr. John Kallarakkal delivered Christmas Message. The 4 area secretaries joined him in cutting Christmas Cake. Visiting Priest  Rev. Fr. Justice Antony Sebastian (member Karnataka State Juvenile Justice Board ) delivered the key note address. The silver jubilee couples were felicitated by Rev. Fr. Mathews Kunnepurayidom- hon’ble vicar general of Kuwait. Jubilerians received mementos from him. Visiting priest Rev. Fr. John Padippura, hon’ble vicar General of Mavelicara Malankara Catholic diocese released the souvenir of 15th anniversary of SMCA. Rev. Fr. George Kottappuram, Rev. Fr. Jospeh Palatty and Baladeepthy president Miss Ronit Rose delivered felicitations. General secretary Mr. Anil Thayil said the welcome speech and Treasurer Mr. Thomas Kuruvila said Vote of Thanks.  

The public meeting was followed by the arrival of Carol groups. All groups joined at the center of the venue to rock the audience with a mood of celebration. The SMCA choir sang beautiful carol songs. This was followed by Ganamela. Amrita TV fame Miss Mridula & Mr Jayadeep led the ganamela and the orchestration was by Melody Musics Kuwait. 

A Buffet Dinner was also arranged, which was enjoyed by all as one family. Trophies to the winners of SMCA arts festival were distributed during the event. Event Sponsor Manjooran Group was represented by the General Manager Mr. Krishnadas. Guests from various associations and sponsoring companies graced the day with their presence. Christmas raffle prizes were announced through a draw. The first prize of Raffle, 25 gm gold, sponsored by UAE Exchange Co was won by Mr. Venkat. The success of  the mega event was the result of collective effort put in by the sub committees under the leadership of Arts Convener Mr. Bejoy Varghese Kelamparambil, Cultural Convener Mr. Joseph Mathew Valiara and Social Welfare Convener Tom Kalasserry. Let the success of this mega event lead our association to new heights.
